Who is CuraDomi ?

CuraDomi is Steffi Dumrese – and vice versa.

Only a few years ago, Steffi Dumrese and Axel were an ordinary couple with dreams and plans. Travelling was their shared passion – until one day, while out jogging, Axel suffered a heart attack and fell into a persistent vegetative state.

From one second to the next, nothing was the same anymore for either of them:

Steffi’s constant worry about Axel.
Her partner in a coma, no longer able to live an autonomous life in familiar surroundings, at home.
The grief that overwhelmed Steffi whenever she realised she could no longer share her life with Axel in the way she had once imagined.
.

Or could she, after all?

Against all odds, Steffi Dumrese made a decision: Axel should return home and be cared for there. After all, where else – if not within one’s own four walls – can body and soul feel most at ease? This was, and still is, Steffi Dumrese’s firm belief.

After more than two years of exhausting battles with doctors, the health insurance fund and public authorities, a court ruling finally brought clarity.

Since then, Axel has been cared for at home through the so called Personal Budget. A professional nursing team looks after him. Each carer knows Axel inside out – his likes and dislikes, his aches and pains, his facial expressions and, not least, his character.

Thus began CuraDomi – care at home!

Your Path to the Personal Budget

1
Submit an Application

No support without an application!
In order for your loved one to be cared for at home by professional nursing teams, you must first submit an application to the relevant authority. This may be a health insurance fund or the social services department, to name just two examples.

2
Assess Needs

How much care do you or your loved one require?
What type of care is necessary?
Which level of care is appropriate?
In the second step, the necessary care requirements are assessed together with you and the responsible authority. For this, medical reports are reviewed, and in some cases a medical assessment must also be carried out.

3
Agree Objectives

In the end, it usually comes down to money.
Before your loved one – or you yourself – can receive care at home under the Personal Budget, the financial framework must be negotiated with the relevant authority. After all, carers need to be paid. Care-related equipment also costs money. All of this must be calculated and settled with the authority.

Sounds complicated? Often, it is.

Too much paperwork and you have other worries?

Overwhelmed?

That’s what CuraDomi is here for.
